It’s amazing how many choices need to be made when conducting a remodel. Take the bathroom, for instance. You can change the door knobs, lighting, washing area, walls, floors, fixtures, handles, shower door and so much more. When putting in or upgrading a shower stall, there are many choices to consider concerning the type of door you would like to use. Here are your options.

Bypass Shower Door

These doors are also called sliding glass doors. There is a slight overlap between the doors, and they run along a track that is at the bottom and possibly the top of the door. These types of doors are easy to install, can be found at the local building supply store, and can offer a towel rack as part of the door. While there are many pros to these doors, the track also collects water, soap residue, and grime. This can make the door more difficult to wash. Another consideration is the fact that the doors overlap. This could make getting a thorough clean harder.

Pivot Shower Doors

Pivot shower doors can be likened to the front door of your house. They are doors that open outwards from the shower as opposed to sliding. These doors do not generally have a track, so they are easier to keep clean. Additionally, these doors can be customized to allow for a wider opening. One disadvantage of these doors is if you have a smaller bathroom. This could make it feel cramped when the door is open. Also, when the door is open, water on the door will drip on the floor.

Glass Shower Doors

Glass shower doors can come in a variety of textures. They can be clear glass, frosted, tinted, or textured on one side and smooth on the other. The clear glass door will show spots and streaks the fastest.  Unlike a shower curtain, however, the glass door will not trap moisture and grime leading to mold. A clear glass shower door can make your room look bigger by allowing the eyes to see into the shower giving the room more perceived depth. Glass shower doors are also a nice touch when thinking of the resale value of the house. Glass shower doors give the house a polished look and can add an elegant touch to the room.  There are many varieties of doors to choose from, and you can find one to fit any décor options you choose.
