Sometimes you know that something needs to be changed in your place, but you’re not exactly sure what. You walk around your house and go into every room imagining what could be different. You think of some things but wonder if there are more choices than what you are coming up with. There are many different places that you can get remodel inspiration. We’ll talk about a few here.
Design Magazines
One place to find inspiration is through design magazines. These can either be purchased from the store, or you can look at these for free at the library/bookstore. If purchased, you can cut out the various items that you like and make a mock-up of how you would like your room to look. You can move items around on the room floorplan and see where things fit best. You can also interchange items if there are a few pieces you can’t decide between.
Home Shows
Another place to find inspiration is through attending home shows. There are many appliances and design materials on display to spark your imagination. There are people on hand to answer your questions and materials to pick up and take home. This way you can continue deciding what you like, and place any samples around your home.
Open Houses
Walking through open houses gives you the opportunity to see different room ideas. Instead of just seeing design thoughts or pictures, you can see how the whole room would be set up. As you walk through each room, you can think about the flow and if you like how everything is set up. You can also take pictures of various groupings that you like from different houses and see how they fit together.
Inspiration All Around
Inspiration can come from almost anywhere. You can find something you like from any magazine that you read. You can see something while you are driving around or visiting a friend in their home. The idea is to capture what you like and imagine it in your home to see how it works for you. Another great idea is to see things in new ways. You can get inspiration for your walls from clothes you see at a store. Looking at outfits, you can determine some color pairings, patterns, fabrics, etc. The possibilities for inspiration are almost endless. It can go as far as your mind can take it.
