When you only have so much space in your bathroom to work with you really need to get creative when you remodel. There are tips and tricks that you can employ that will make your small bathroom look larger. While everyone wants that glamour bath with the separate tub, shower, and make-up area, it is just not feasible in every space. Here are some ways you can make your small bathroom look larger.

Light It Up

Making your bathroom bright will not only allow you to see everything clearer, but it will also help to open up the room.  You can use recessed lighting so that you don’t have fixtures hanging in your space. If the space permits, you can add a skylight or find ways to open the area up to other natural light while maintaining the level of privacy you desire.

Mirrors

A trick for making a smaller space look larger is through the use of mirrors. You can place a large mirror in the room and place other mirrors on the walls so that they reflect on each other. The mirrors will give the illusion of depth to the room. The mirrors not only give depth to the room but also help to reflect the light which will make the room seem brighter.

Color

Painting the room all white can make the room look larger. If you really don’t want an all-white room, you can use off-white or a pastel color for the same effect. The use of the same color will create continuity when looking around the room and take the harsh edges out that come with your eye line stopping when the colors change. This means that you should consider the ceiling and the floor color as well.

Glass

Installing glass partitions and shower doors will make your bathroom look larger as well as using a same color scheme. The glass although it is a door or partition is see through which allows the eyes to see the whole space instead of being stopped by a solid door or partition. For this effect, the glass needs to be clear and not frosted. Frosted glass has the same effect as a solid door.

To The Ceiling

Another way to create more space in the room is to have the tile in the shower go all the way to the ceiling. If you have a shower curtain, this too can go all the way to the ceiling. Again, this is a continuity effect. Your eye will go from the floor to the ceiling looking at the tile or curtain without stopping, thus creating an elongated view.
