One thing that is positive when remodeling your home is that you can make changes to the current design to make future cleaning easier. While this isn’t necessarily anyone’s top goal, it can be a thought that’s kept in mind. How can this be done? First is to look at the changes you want to make and look at your options.

Walls

If tile is considered for the walls or the flooring, then larger tiles can be an option. Larger tiles will allow for less grout, which will trap less dirt. Another option would be stone slabs. The seams are small on these which will create an easier cleaning service. Vinyl is another consideration. This type of material can be easily wiped off. Paint, specific for bathroom use, is also a great option. The paint will resist mold and mildew.

Showers

A shower stall can be easy to clean if it is one seamless unit. Instead of having the shower unit attached to the floor, thereby creating a space for dirt to get trapped, extra seams and grout areas are removed. Another choice is to have a shower curtain that is resistant to mold and mildew. A shower door can attract spots and water stains; a shower curtain eliminates this. Cleaning this can be a breeze if you toss it in the washing machine as needed.

Toilets

There are several options available to create an easier cleaning toilet. One option is to get a toilet that is a single unit. Toilets can come with the tank attached to the bowl or the tank and bowl being one unit. One unit creates fewer crevices and hardware to attract dirt. Another option is to get a wall-mounted toilet that does not touch the floor. This makes cleaning under and around the toilet easier.

Storage

By having a place for everything you use in the bathroom, you reduce the amount of clutter. You can create extra storage space, hidden storage space, and multifunctional storage space to suit your needs. The floors being clear will be easier to sweep and mop. Your items having a place means less dust and debris on the counters, a lower chance of spills, and a smaller chance of items getting lost.

These are just some items to think about when considering your remodel projects. If you can give your home a new look and reduce the cleaning and upkeep in the process, why wouldn’t you?
