Sinks come in all shapes and sizes. There are many different choices and colors available. One deciding factor for the choice of sink is the faucet you are planning on using. Faucets will depend on the function of the sink you are considering. Having a sink in a guest bathroom would be smaller than the one in a master bathroom.  If you are considering a small sink, you would probably be looking for a spout and handle in one combination. Here we will discuss the various options available for any sink you are considering.

Single-hole Faucets

This type of faucet would normally be seen in a smaller sink, either the sink in a guest bathroom or possibly the children’s’ bathroom. This type of faucet would be an all-in-one type where the spout and handle are one piece. The sink would have one hole, or if a different sink were used, the other holes would be covered with metal pieces, because there are no other functioning parts.

Center-set Faucets

This would fit well in the standard three-hole sink. This would contain the faucet and two handles, or a faucet and a lever. This has a standard amount that the holes must be separated by (six inches). This will allow for most faucet choices. The center-set faucet is the most comment type sold. You can make this type of faucet/sink combination unique with the color/shape/and finish of all of the pieces.

Wide-spread Mount/Wall Mount

This type of faucet utilizes three separate pieces (2 handles and the faucet). This is stated as the wide-spread mount because there is a standard eight inches between the handles. Another option would be to have the faucet come directly out of the wall, which is called the wall-mount faucet. These types of faucets can be seen with the above the counter bowl-type basins.

Deciding Factors

The amount of space available is one of the biggest deciding factors for the type of sink/faucet combination you desire. You can have a bigger sink in a smaller room, but then you will create less space for something else. Normally, you want to make sure guests feel comfortable and not cramped within the space you give them for the bathroom.  Additionally, you need to consider the fact that children will grow and as they do they will have more things, and they will take up more space. Choosing the best sink/faucet now will mean fewer issues as they grow up.
