There are many choices that need to be made when considering a remodel. There are choices for which room or rooms to remodel, how much in each room to update, and how much you are going to spend for the changes. Within each room, there are texture, color, material, accessories, and miscellaneous choices to be made. When considering a bathroom remodel all of these are taken into account and another choice to be considered is not only what type of faucets you would like to use, but also what faucet finish works best within the space.

There are many finishes to consider. One can choose textured, satin sheen, smooth, shiny, matte, oil-rubbed metal, brass, copper, chrome, nickel, and gold-plated. How do you choose? First and foremost, go to design centers and look to see what catches your eye. Start out just going by looks. Then consider what was it that you liked that drew you to that particular faucet. Did you like the functionality? Was it how the faucet looked within the given space? Was it the finish on the faucet? Look at different types of faucets and see if your eye is drawn to a particular finish, or if it is based more on the functionality.

The next consideration is the accessories that will be in the bathroom. The towel racks, the shower curtain rod, and hardware will also have finish options. Looking around the space, you can determine what finish choices will work within the given space and will coordinate with the changes you want to make.

Another consideration is the maintenance that will be required depending upon the finish. Some materials will show fingerprints and water spots faster than others. If you have children, this would be something to keep in mind. Additionally, some finishes will need to be polished to maintain their luster.

Choosing the faucet finish does not need to be difficult. If you first go by looks, you will get an idea of what types of finishes draw you. From there you can consider how much maintenance your choices will require. While it does not take a long time to remove fingerprints or water spots, if you have children or many demands upon your time, you might consider something that can maintain the original look better. The first few times you remove the spots are not a problem, but when you remove them, and within a few hours there are more, you might wish you made a different choice.
