Having guests in your home is a wonderful treat. When family/friends come in from out of town, it is nice to be able to offer them their own space within your home. One thing to think about when planning a remodel is how to set up the guest bathroom. The bathroom would be set up slightly different than your own personal bathroom. Let’s look at some options.

Storage Space

When people travel for a short period of time, they don’t normally bring that much. When guests come to your home to stay for a while, they usually have some home comforts that they bring with them along with the essentials. This means that the storage you would need to have available for them would be less than the storage you would need for your items. The storage space should be easily accessible, so they don’t feel like they are snooping when setting up their space for their stay.

Simple Style

The style of the bathroom is best to be clean and simple. Think about what you like about hotels when you go on vacation, then think about setting your guest bathroom up like that. Guests wouldn’t necessarily need to have a lot of knick-knacks or decorative items lying around. Beautiful towels and pictures on the wall would be nice. It is easy to understand how bad your guests would feel if they knocked your decorative items to the floor and broke them. Plus they would need counter space for their essentials. Leaving small luxury soaps and possibly some potpourri for your guests to enjoy is a great idea to bring coziness to the room. Another thought would be to have little baskets they could use to keep all of the items together during their stay.

Essentials

Consider what you want for the basics of the bathroom. Do you think people would use a tub if you had one, or would a preference be for a shower only option? Think about the sink and counter space you would need, and where to place other essentials, so everything is within easy reach for your guests. Again, you can consider elements you have liked at hotels that you’ve stayed at while on vacation. One essential for this bathroom would be a mirror. In a hotel room, there would be mirrors in the bathroom and perhaps a full-length mirror. Having a large enough mirror over the sink for guests to fix their face or do their hair should suffice.
