In a previous post, we discussed trends that have emerged in regards to bathroom remodels and redecorating. We want to revisit what is popular in bathrooms and share some more trends we have seen.

Round Mirrors

In a previous post, we discussed what to consider when choosing the mirror for your bathroom. We discussed the necessity, storage options available, and the decorative aspects of them. Here we look at the shape that has become popular. When thinking of the traditional bathroom mirror, most people imagine a square with or without a medicine cabinet behind it. The latest style that is emerging is the round mirror. This creates a different look to the room with minimal effort. You can have one large round mirror, two medium mirrors, or you can arrange several small mirrors around the bathroom, depending on the look you are going for. You can also mix and match sizes to create your desired look. Additionally, you can choose to have mirrors on one wall or multiple walls.

Playing With Fire

Another trend that is popular in bathrooms is the idea of adding a fire feature. Some bathrooms now have a fireplace built into them. Most have been seen by the bathtub, but as long as there is space and it is safe, a fireplace can be placed wherever you choose.  Another fire feature is the idea of a fire bowl or fire rocks. Again, with safety and space in mind, these can add warmth to the room and become an instant conversation piece. These types of fire features will be controlled by a knob or a switch on the wall. Safety is an important issue. If you choose to add a fire feature, then fire safety is a must. All emergency equipment should be readily available, functional and everyone trained on proper use.

Fish Scale Tile

In another previous post, we discussed the idea of three-dimensional tile. Yet another type of tile that is popular is fish scale tile. Fish scale tile is so named because the tiling on the wall resembles the scales on a fish. This type of tile can be used on an accent wall or to cover the whole room. The idea is to look at the space you have available and consider how busy the rest of your room will be. There are many different colors that the tile can come in with the most popular being various shades of blue, green, or gray. You can create a maritime look using the fish scale tile and other accents in your remodel.
